Personal Experience

Dr. Renee Terrasi is the director and founder of Peace by Piece (PXP).  Her professional history providing services to persons with autism and related disabilities began in 1997, as a teacher in the Lee County Public Schools. Then in 2008 after receiving her Ph. D in Educational Leadership and specialists in Special Education from Barry University, her Autism Specialist Certification from University of Massachusetts Lowell and became a Board Certified Doctoral Behavior Analyst, she expanded her services to better meet the needs the community by opening PXP.  Dr. Terrasi’s vision and mission for PXP emanates from her own lifelong struggle with a neurological disability, as well as foster parent to a child with autism.

Dr. Terrasi not only has an array of professional and educational experience but she also was a foster parent to a six year old boy with autism and a hearing impairment. This provided her with what many professionals lack......... direct parental responsibilities, twenty four hours a day, and seven days a week! No book, course, or program would expect one to voluntarily partake in such an endeavor. It was during this time that she was able to see how practical (or impractical) educational theories were for a parent! It was also during this time that she truly
experienced the lack of services and support offered to families.
